2025 FELLOWSHIP OVERVIEW

RANT Arts is seeking expressions of interest from young artists, arts workers and cultural practitioners to apply for the 2025 Rising Phoenix SPARK Fellowship program. Three $2,000 fellowships are on offer to provide self-directed development opportunities for young Northern Tasmanian artists (aged 18-25) of all art forms. This could be to create new work, gain skills and mentoring or seize a new opportunity locally, nationally or even internationally!

This program is about finding the spark that will move your career or practice to the next level.

Applications open: 30 May 2025, 09:00am (AEST).

Applications close: 15 July, 2025, 11:59pm (AEST).

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria
The following section outlines who is eligible to apply for the 2025 Spark Fellowships and the types of activities that can be undertaken.

Who is eligible to apply for the 2025 Fellowships?
To be eligible you must:

Applicants must reside in one of the following Northern Tasmanian local
government areas:

  • Break O’Day
  • Burnie
  • Central Coast
  • Circular Head
  • Devonport
  • Dorset
  • Flinders Island
  • George Town
  • Kentish
  • King Island
  • Latrobe
  • Launceston
  • Meander Valley
  • Northern Midlands
  • Waratah-Wynyard
  • West Tamar

Applicants must be aged 18 to 25

You are not eligible if you:

  1. Are a non-Tasmanian resident.
  2. Are an organisation;
  3. Are a group or collective; or
  4. Are an employee (or immediate family member of an employee) of RANT Arts.

What the Fellowship can be used for:

  1. Professional development opportunities;
  2. Mentorships, coaching, workshops and training;
  3. Self-directed residencies; and/or
  4. Travel costs (including international).

What the Fellowship cannot be used for:

  1. Delivery or administration of projects by organisations;
  2. Activities that have already commenced;
  3. Curriculum based activities including for primary, secondary or tertiary courses
    (i.e. universities, TAFE etc); and
  4. Infrastructure costs, including building or fitting out permanent structures.

Eligible locations:
Fellowship activities are not limited to a specific location, they may be undertaken
locally, within Tasmania or outside of Tasmania.
